2006 SAFETY RULES & REGULATIONS 

STOCK TRACTORS ONLY

 

1.        All participants must read and comply with the rules governing the Tractor Pull and attend the Safety Meeting prior to the Pull.

2.        Drivers must stay on seat of tractor at all times.  Both hands must be on steering wheel, hand clutch, hand brakes or throttle at all times during the pull.  No seat bouncing. 

3.        Tractors must stay within the boundary lines and after disconnecting from the sled, not exceed 2½ mph.

4.        All add-on weights must be securely fastened to the tractor.  If any weights should fall off the tractor while on the track, the tractor will be automatically disqualified.

5.        Tractor drivers must be 18 years of age.  Exception:  Drivers ages 14-17 may pull in classes less than 4600# if a parent or guardian is present.

6.        Tractors shall not exceed 3 mph during the pull.  Tractors exceeding the speed limit after the horn blows the first time will be disqualified.  Classes C-8600# classes and above will have a 3 ½ mph speed limit.  Tractors pulling for exhibition purposes only will pull after all regular classes have pulled and must meet all safety rules.

7.        Any driver refusing to stop when “red flagged” will be automatically disqualified and barred from any future CASTA events.

8.        Tractor front-end will not be allowed to raise more than 16 inches during the pull.

9.        No one will be allowed on the track except pullers and officials.

10.      All pulls will start with a tight chain and at half throttle.  NO popping of clutches.  (Pull Superintendent’s decision)

11.      NO CONSUMPTION OF ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES.  Doing so shall result in an Automatic disqualification.

12.      During hooking and unhooking, the tractor will be in neutral and the drivers’ hands raised.

13.      Gas leaks (drips or any danger of fire) will disqualify any tractor until repaired.  This must be done before next class starts pulling.

14.      Failure to comply with any of these Rules & Regulations, tampering with a tractor other than your own, or any un-sportsperson like conduct will result in disqualification and therefore eliminate that person or persons from the pull.

15.      Any tractor having a mechanical problem, that is deemed dangerous to life or limb by a minimum of two (2) CASTA Officers and/or Directors and/or Pull Superintendent(s), may result in disqualification or disbarment until corrected and/or repaired.

16.      All tractors will have a kill switch installed in reach of the operator and in good working condition. 

17.      Only current members in good standing with CASTA/EDGE & TA will be eligible to participate in CASTA/EDGE & TA events.

18.  The Pull Superintendent(s) and/or CASTA Officers’ decisions shall be final in any and all instances.

 

2006 TECHNICAL RULES & REGULATIONS      STOCK TRACTORS ONLY

 

1.        All tractors and drivers will be registered and weighed in during the official weigh-in time.  The Superintendent will consider hardships.  Tractors will be classified by age, weight, and serial numbers.  All tractors without serial numbers will be placed in the class that includes the last year that model was made.

2.        1938 and older tractors must have factory stock engines.  Allowable overbore sizes are .045 inches maximum and Factory RPM.  Tractor must be as original as possible.  NO MODIFICATIONS AND NO ALUMINUM PISTONS.

3.        1939 through 1960 tractors must be factory stock with .125 inches maximum allowable overbore size.  Cast or aluminum pistons are acceptable.  Factory RPM. Tractor must be as original as possible.

4.        All tractors must be complete with no weights or fluids added after official weigh-in.  Driver must have own 5/8 inch or larger clevis or “D” ring and the loop must accommodate the sled hook.

5.        Drawbar or hitch point shall not exceed 18 inches from ground level.  Hitch point shall be a maximum of 9 inches behind the rear tires and a minimum of 22 inches behind centerline of rear axle and have a convenient hook-up.  Drawbars and/or hitch points must be of fixed configuration and MUST BE STATIONARY IN ALL DIRECTIONS.  TURNBUCKLES MUST BE JAMNUTTED.

6.        No tractors allowed using gasoline higher than 100 octane.  Factory equipped propane and diesel tractors are allowed.  No alcohol or nitro-methane mixtures will be allowed.  No injected gases or fluids are allowed.

7.        Tractors can only pull once in a class.  A driver can only drive one tractor per class.  Exception – A driver shall be allowed to pull a different tractor in the same class for exhibition purposes only.  If the tractor has been entered in a previous CASTA pull it shall be allowed to pull at the end of its’ class.  If the tractor is new to CASTA it  shall only be allowed to pull after all scheduled pull classes have been completed.   There shall be no delays in the pull due to such things as the changing of  weights or  waiting for a driver to change tractors.   If you are not in line to pull before the first tractor in the next class is ready to pull, your attempt to pull will be forfeited.  NO REFUNDS -  NO EXCEPTIONS!

8.        Problems such as fuel line plugging, jumping out of gear and other such problems common to older tractors will not end your pull.  Before unhooking from the sled you must request a re-pull (which will occur at the end of your class).  Grant the re-pull is the Superintendents decision.

9.        TIRES & WHEELS:  All rear tractor rims must not be wider than the tire size recommends.  SEE TIRE AND WHEEL CHARTS.  No radial rear tires, hand altered, intentionally altered tires or dual wheels are allowed.  Tractors will use stock diameter rims.

10.      All tractors are subject to any technical checks, if necessary, to ensure compliance with the rules of C.A.S.T.A.

11.      The burden of proof is on the owner regardless of the disputes.  What is to be accepted as proof?  Original manufacturers data.  The Nebraska Tests were only for the model tested and may not represent all tractors made for that model.

12.      Stock tractors cannot be altered from the factory shipping weight to gain a lighter weight advantage.

13.      No modified frames or wheelbases will be allowed.

14.      No weights will be allowed in front of tractor.
